Leadership

Jeff Gotro, Ph.D., President and Polymer Science Expert
Jeff has over twenty-six years experience in polymers for electronic applications and composites having held scientific and leadership positions at IBM, AlliedSignal, Honeywell International, and most recently as Vice President of Technology for Ablestik Laboratories. He is an accomplished technology professional with demonstrated success directing new product development, leading to multi-million dollar revenues. Jeff brings to his clients a solid proficiency in managing the research, development and commercialization of new products. He has global experience developing new products having established a full function R&D and Applications Engineering lab in Shanghai, China for Ablestik Laboratories. Jeff has experience with companies ranging from early start-ups to Fortune 50 companies.

Jeff is a nationally recognized authority in thermosetting polymers and he has received invitations to speak at prestigious Gordon Research Conferences (Thermosetting Polymers and Composites). He has presented numerous lectures and short courses at national technical conferences. Jeff was an Adjunct Professor at Syracuse University in the Dept. of Chemical Engineering and Materials Science from 1986-1993. He taught Six Sigma Black Belt and Green Belt at California State University at Fullerton from 2001-2006, and teaches courses on Innovation and Product Development in the MBA program at Concordia University in Irvine, CA.

Jeff is a member of the Product Development and Management Association (PDMA), American Chemical Society (ACS), the Institute for Management Consultants (IMC), the Forensic Expert Witness Association (FEWA), and Sigma Xi, The Scientific Research Society.

Jeff has published 60 technical papers (including 4 book chapters) in the field of polymeric materials for advanced electronic packaging applications, holds 13 issued US patents, and has 7 patents pending.

Jeff has a Ph.D. in Materials Science from Northwestern University with a specialty in polymer science and a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering/Materials Science from Marquette University.

Gretchen Mavrovouniotis, Ph.D, Design for Six Sigma Specialist
Gretchen Mavrovouniotis is a specialist in Design for Six Sigma (DFSS). She provides high quality training and consulting in Six Sigma process improvement in addition to DFSS. She is a certified Master Black Belt and has over fifteen years experience at reducing defects and variation in complex manufacturing processes and product development projects. Gretchen received her Ph.D. and M.S. in Chemical Engineering at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and her B.S in Chemical Engineering at Stanford University.

Larry Crane, Ph.D.,Open Innovation and Product Development Process Expert
Larry Crane has more than 25 years leading R&D teams in the area of adhesives, coatings and electronic materials as well as synthesis of new organic molecules. He is expert in using portfolio management to maximize return on R&D investment and integrates technologies from both internal and external technologies (Open Innovation) into new products. He has global product development experience leading teams around the world. Larry received his Ph.D in Chemistry from the University of California at Berkeley and holds B.S. in Biochemistry/Chemistry from the University of California at Riverside.

R. Bruce Prime, Ph.D, Thermosetting Polymers Specialist
Bruce Prime has over 30 years experience developing polymeric materials and their processes for a variety of high technology products. He is an expert in crosslinked polymer systems such as coatings, adhesives and electronic materials. Bruce is a fellow of SPE and NATAS and was the 1989 recipient of the International Mettler Award in Thermal Analysis. Bruce has a Ph.D. in chemistry from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and a B.S. in chemistry from Loyola Marymount University. He is a co-editor of the book Thermal Analysis of Polymers: Fundamentals and Applications (Joseph D. Menczel and R. Bruce Prime, editors, John Wiley & Sons, 2009).

Delbert Friesen, Ph.D., Polymer Characterization Specialist
Del Friesen has more than 25 years experience and leadership in materials property testing, electronic materials failure analysis and formulating. His expertise is in the characterization of electronic assembly materials. Del’s experience includes the development of specialty glass compositions, formulating conductive die attach adhesives, and managing an analytical testing laboratory. Del received his Ph.D. in Inorganic Chemistry from Indiana University, Bloomington and holds a B.A. degree in chemistry from Goshen College, Goshen, Indiana.

Zoltan Mester, Ph.D., Environmental and Statistical Design Expert
Zoltan Mester is an expert in environmental issues in new product development (air permitting, waste treatment, hazardous waste disposal, chemical registration, etc.) Additionally, Zoltan is an expert using advanced statistical design of experiments (DOE) Zoltan holds a Ph.D. in chemistry at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and an M.S. in chemical engineering from the Technical University of Budapest, Hungary. Zoltan is currently an Adjunct Professor at Concordia University in Irvine and teaches Environmental Sustainability classes in the MBA program.
